I'm thinking it may be a scar from my cichlids....although it does seem to be getting worse :S

He eats and acts normally...nothing noticable, water stats are perfect...running 2 external filters, tank is 28c, 40% weekly water changes etc..

I did have a outbreak of whitespot recentley (from my silver dollars that i bought) but he had the mark before hand...the white spot has been treated now.

Wow, that's some battle scar! What have they done to him?

God knows...he lived with Mbuna for months and nothign bothered him then as soon as he starts living with my current stock he getst his.

It started off as one of his nostrils looked 'stretched' then his nostril was gone...then it turned into that....now he looks liek harry potter :(

Im thinking either my current stock is kicking his butt...or hes scraped himself on something....orrr hes got some weird disease like hole in the head :S

Possibly?

Either way, if it's growing it's not good. Some sort of anti-bacterial med looks like a good plan.

Yeah, that looks bad, it's a bacterial infection, OohFeeshy hit it right on the head. Be careful, loaches are sensitive to some medications.

Gah can be caused by high PH....that may of been when he was with the Mbunas.

PH is 7 nowadays nothing buffering.

Still i'm not 100% but i'll try some anti bacterial stuff to be sure.

As mentioned could of been a burn off of one of my heaters

I doubt high pH is particularly a factor, in essence it's just a wound that's got infected. If you've got a QT tank then that could be a better place until it's healed, even if it's only to stop extra damage to the wound from decoration or other fish.

Well my water quality is perfect, im a water change nut.....i can't stand seeing poo on my sand so im constantly changing water.

I sold on my qt tank, had no room for it...i'll just leave him be, if it is a infection...chances are its lying dorment in my other fish (listed in my sig) so i'll treat the whole tank.

I still think 100% it is damage from another fish, my Vieja Argentea seriously dislikes it.

He was in a shoal of 4 originally but i lost 3 when i switched back to new world....only fish i have lost in the last around 5 years....none of those had a mark on them.

Weird...its startng to go away.

Looks like it was a 'cut' after all cos its nearly gone and i haven't got round to treating my tank yet.
