All fish stores in my area are pretty good with keeping dead fish out of the tanks and both stores have knowledgeable people working there.

Mine would be pet's at home even though it isn't just focosed on fish however most of the fish are showing most symptons of every illness!!

Ive seen Petco pretty bad sometimes. And sometimes Ive seen just as they are removing the dead fish, ziplock baggies full of marine and fresh. I actually have never seen Walmart with a dead fish.

pets at home too - i always see at least 1 white, rotting fish body with no eyes left when i go there.

so now ive quit looking at their fish - it makes me feel sick.

A garden center that sells fish as well called Hilliers
Every single fish that i bought from there died straight away so i asked the teenager in there to check the water readings on one of thier tanks and he said "i'll check to see if im authorised to do that sir" in a very high pitched voice and 20 minutes later came back and said in a very disapoited voice "oh your still here, yeah i can check the water stats" so he did and the ammonia was really high! this was a while ago so i can't remember exactly what it was but it was like 4 or 5! and it shocked me when he said "everything fine then"
i told him everything was not fine but he didn't listen and so i told him he'd lost himself a customer and walked out the door.
it was really unbelivable!!!

Pixie that's the same story as me it makes me feel ill seeing the dead fish and extremely angry that they just do not care about them, Where are you located?

Petco is prob the worst in my area. They have very little variety of fish, and on top of that i would say almost every tank has 2-3 fish dead. When i asked them why do u just leave them in there, they say its very disgusting why dont u try to reomve them. I got so angry  Never went there again.

My LPS is not the worst but they give out bad advice i was in there the other week buying some zebra danios. This woman came in and asked if she could have a single neon tetra along with it she bought some water dechlorinater as she was going to put it in a brand new tank. Poor little fish then she said if it was ok she was going to add a single guppy with it to be its friend. I couldnt beleive the guy who sold it to her he obviously dosnt care much about fish.

I haven't seen too many dead fish in tanks, but there is a local place that I was really dissapointed in because all they seemed to sell were cichlids, piranhas, and salt water fish. Not a big deal, probably a great store for cichlid, piranha, or salt water lovers. Another local place which happens to be my favorite has this one guy that I can't stand. He won't listen to anything I have to stay and he keeps making recommendations of what he thinks is best. The guy is really annoying, but unfortunately I doubt he will be leaving anytime soon as its a family run place and he is one of the sons.

Got to be Pets at Home, they always have a dead fish in each tank, last time I was there they had whitespot as well. Told one of the guys (when and if you can find one) and he said that they knew about it and would deal with it later, now for the whitespot to be soooo bad they must have had it a for a few days.

Never buy fish from there, only dog stuff.

There were 2 skeletons in one tank in our store once. No telling how long the previous owners had been dead.

Lol, sounds like the pimply-faced teenagers that always seem to be working at mediocre jobs (and not doing a very good job, at that either) in The Simpsons! BTW, I can say this, as I am one of those teens, lol. I do a good job though, I hope.
Anyway, the worst place I have ever been is an LFS called Exotic Pet corner. It always stinks of dog and cat filth, the employees spray the puppies with water if they poop or pee (what the hell are they supposed to do???), there was a 30 gallon long with at least 100+ Red Eared Slider turtles, much too large for the tank, they were literally stacking themselves on top of each other to move, and several tanks where all the fish were dead, and in one, all the fish had floated to the top, and all had mould or fungus covering them! Needless to say, I don't even go there.

went to this pet store once and it sells reptiles and fish and rabbits and all that and the water eghhhhh its like mud and it smells like piss in there too  also there was a tank full of dead fish and it had a sign on it saying not for sale I thought in my head I should think so and walked out the shop

There is one near me that just doesn't seem to take very good care of their tanks. They're always dirty looking with quite a bit of algae. They also sell painted/dyed fish which in my opinion makes any LFS a bad one even if their tanks are perfect.
