Hey you guys, I was just wondering on the size of the tanks at wal-mart that are used to keep the fish in. Are they over 30gallons? I was browsing there and saw so many fish in one tank. There was one tank that had Angel fish that were labeled as "Assorted Angels" and plus it was with other fish in the same tank. In another tank I saw some fish that were dead. Their bodies were half eaten and I was just staring at its bones. Do you guys know the size of the tank that they use. They all look the same though. So Im just really curious. Any Thoughts?

They could be different at every Walmart, but the ones at my Walmart look like they hold between 5 and 10 gallons. The reason so many fish are crammed into one tank is because no store has enough room to correctly house the fish. Most of the fish are younger and not full grown, so say, each oscar doesn't need its own 75 gallon, and instead they have several of them in a smaller tank. The thing with this is the store SHOULD be doing more water changes then normaly would be done, but unfortunalty not every store does this, and it seems that Walmart falls behind when it comes to this. Its not uncommon to see dead fish at Walmart.
Now, where I work we have 8 gallons, 13 gallons and 20 gallons (long) tanks, and the fish are spread out better then your typical Walmart. Water changes are also down quite often. So it all depends on the store...

Actually, its common for most stores that have the tanks connected on one of these.
Edit: Finding better picture

They're usually a 30G split, so 15 and 15.
Thats what all the chainstore around here use, even walmart.

Yeah, I've pretty much seen lots of tanks with that same problem dead fish that are half gone... But the day I went to wal-mart was really early in the morning the pet section was deserted that day. It was black friday as they like to call it. The "big" sale after Thanksgiving what a piece of crap. They left out the pet section out of the sale :-( . Well I didnt buy any fish though after I saw the dead ones. The tanks at my wal-mart do look like 5-10gallons but its a square with nothing in it, no gravel, plants, air bubbles,But there is a filter. The other stores I've seen have these interconnected pipes that I think are used to filter or add more water or something.
