Both the male and female have the red shouldering, both look almost identical except males have small squiggly red lines on their faces where as the females dont.

Red spot severum and the ebjd are my top fish for color that I own.

Natrual colorful fish
Green terrors can be Amazing.
Red terror

A lot of the Africans seem more colourful than the NW.

I agree to some extend, more of the available species of OW are more colourful than NW, but when you look at Rotkeil Severun, Red Terror, Salvini etc there is no way you could get any more colourful than those...
