i currently have in it....

10 Neons
5 Black Tetras
3 Zebra Danios
Pair of silver mollies
3 red wag plattys
5 swordtails
2 bronze corys
2 kuhli loach
1 red crab
6 guppies
3 platty fry

dimensons of the tank are 60"L x 18"H x 18"D

Nevermind, your not over stocked but I'd recommend like emma said to get more danios and corys and at least 2 more danios and at least 2 more corys.

Hi, Welcome to the forum,

The general guide is to have 1 inch of adult fish per gallon of water. This only really applies to fish which grow 3 inches or less. If you try to stick to the guide then you shouldn't be overstocked. If you find you have room for more fish you should add to your groups of danios, corys and khuli loaches as they all prefer to be in bigger groups.

Hope this helps

edit: the khuli loaches will be fine as hey only grow 4 inches long (durbkat are you thinking of clownloaches?)
Emma :) :hi:

:*) Duh (bangs head on desk) yes I was thinking about clown loaches.

thanks guys. i intend to build my schol fish up to 10 each if possible, so thats another 7 zebras and another 5 black tetras. although the danios seem to have teamed up with the black tetras LOL. Think they may be a little confused hehehe.

im also gonna get another couple of albino corrys and a couple of plecs.

the thank has only been setup for just short of 2 months and as yet, its cost me very little. had the tank given which needed cleaning and resealing. got the gravel given and bought a 48" tank for £30 which came with hood light and filter and gravel. so have transfered as much from the 48"'er to the 5 footer. got a stand given which i chopped down and have just had my new hood delivered today which my mums best firends son made for me. just need to paint the hood and pick up my fluval 404 at the end of the month and im set for a happy fish keeping life me thinks.

I will then be setting up my 4 footer for discus :)

That will be to many fish then just get 2 more danios, 2 more corys and no plecos because that would also over stock the tank, not counting the huge amount of poop they produce and maybe 2 more black widow tetras. Also with discus you would only be able to get 2 or 3 discus and unless you want to spend a hige amount of money if you want colorful ones otherwise if you don't want to spend alot of money you'll probably end up with dull grey ones.

i was thinking of the plecs for the algae on the glass.....

as for the discus, i have a friend who is breeding them, he has a pair that have fry already and some that are about an inch in size which he is selling for £1.50 each at that size. the parents are blue. i was thinking of getting 2 pairs for the 48" tank.....

The Chinese Algae Eater grows larger than the Otto, and they are much more aggressive.

Otto is what that catfish is almost always called. People will recognize it by that name.

As for getting Discus for your 48, well the 48 length is good, but the other dimensions are too small to keep discus happpy. They will grow 8" long and that doesn't really give them any room to swim depth-wise, and they can reach a good 8" as well, and really don't get much room in anything under 18"

Yeah like Fish Mike said they get alot bigger and will get to aggressive to be in a community tank (they do better in a chinese algae eater only tank) and they do not eat algae at all even though thats part of their name.
