well the title says it all really, are aquafleur cheaper because you get less plants or less quality or are tropica just overpriced?

i've always used tropica plants and they are usually fantastic quality but at nearly twice the price i think i should change to aquafleur.

Indeed, Tropica plants are well over priced. Although you can sometimes find great deals on in places like Pets@Home who sell Tropica.

For me though, AquaFleur is the superior product. Has been for a while now.

thats good to know, cheers. What about quantity though, do you get as many plants in a pot of aqaufleur as you do with tropica?

IMO, Tropica plants aren't overpriced. Every time I've bought any, I've had at least two plants in every pot. Recently I bought some Cryptocoryne Wendtii and Echinodorus 'Red Special' and there were two plants in each pot. Always top quality and good value, IME.

you can easily get 6-8 plants if not more out of every pot, you just need to know how to propagate them ;)

Same with Aqua fleur

Like Aaron says I doubt there were only 2 Wendtiis in a pot. They may have looked like 2 Wendtiis and I personally don't seperate every one but there will have been 10+ single plantlets once pulled apart. I tend to seperate each pot into 2 or 4 bunches and plant that way.

I don'tthink Tropica are overpriced. If you look at the price in P@H (before they stopped stocking) then they were £3.50 each or 3 for £9 which is about on the same level as AF. some online sellers charge more but then they aren't buying the quantities that a group like P@H did :)

Yes, I didn't phrase that too well. There were enough Crypts in the pot to make three very nice bunches. It's been three weeks since I added them and there's been no sign of the dreaded 'Crypt melt'. I have Tetra Complete substrate underneath fine river gravel and I add 5ml of EasyCarbo every day. Maybe I've just been lucky, but the Crypts have stayed absolutely perfect. I may add some more. My LFS sells Tropica pots for £3.99 each or four for £15.
