What's the deal with posting fish?

I am seriously thinking of shipping some of our babies out to new owners but am alittle worried about the post office turning us away. I don't want to be all shady about what I am sending I want to be honest and up front so the fish have the best chance of survival.

Can anyone confirm what Royal Mail's policy is on the shipment of live stock?

i have emailed them but I would have thought someone else has already asked the question!

As far as I know you can. I'll ask my dad, he works at the Royal Mail. Although TBH, most people don't class fish as animals do they, and if they will send something fragile and expensive like a vase, they should send a packet of fish. Actually, ask Bettaman. He posts his methinks.

i have the same problem, i think royal mail ship fish, because i have a pair of severums which have to be posted from england to n. ireland! and they will be sent via royal mail special delivery!

yes you can mail fish
they need to be correctly packaged in bags and the bags in polystyrene boxes, the ploystyrene boxes then need to be in a sturdy cardboard outer.
the package needs to be clearly labled live fish, perishable and should be sent special delivery. you also need to ensure the reciever is there to accept the package
