hi, i dont know if you have read my diary but i have a 39gal, with 5 platies at the moment, my tank looks abit bare at the moment and was hoping to get some rocks, im getting plants sometime this week :D but i want to stack some rocks on top of each other because im having a pair of kribs and plecos and want them to have some nice caves to hide and breed in :D

do you know any?

There are lots of places you can pick up rock. At the LFS, though they usually price them 3-4 times higher than anywhere else. At your local landscaping place, (if you're in the US you could try Lowes or Home Depot), these will be the cheapest places to buy. Or, just about any rock you see lying around. You should avoid tuffa, and limestone, because these will raise your KH GH and PH, which is great if you have african cichlids (not the riverine species like you have). You should also avoid any rocks with mineral deposits. A great way to check on this is the vinegar test, if you can pour a little vinegar on the rock and it fizzes (the vinegar, not the rock :D ) then that rock is not for you. What ever rock you get, make sure you boil it, or wash is really well with just water, a powerwasher works great. Good luck, and post pics when you're done.

ok thnx, in maiden head aquatics there is a garden centre built into the fish store, so i will just go there and look for rocks :D

thnx it looks great but i have never seen it around here

Might want to reconsider the Plecos. They will get too large for your 39 and are heavy waste producers. If you are looking for something to eat left over food and algae, go with corys (food) and otos (algae).

drw i cant scrpa the pleco ive had him for 2 years and hes too big for the 20gal so he needs a bigger tank, and anyway im always cleaning my other tank :D

2 chinese algae eaters
1 gibbisep pleco
1 sailfin pleco

 :/

In 39 Gallons + all the other fish ? ????

agreed. You should consider taking the pleco to a reputable lfs. Call first and make sure they have a tank they can put him in. It would be better if you could find someone with 75 gallon tank or bigger but that's a little unlikely. if you want a pleco go with bristlenose or rubbernose.

try some nice slate, if you live in cwmbran you cant be that far from an old quarry.
Plus you can split it into "sheets" and stick it together with aq sealent in any configuration you can imagine.......................
