Whats The Best Tank

just like to know what tank people on here would reccomend as a good buy,i want a 30-40 gallon tank with lights and hood and stand,
i would prefer to add my own external filter,as i understand it its makes maintenance easier and is also beneficial to fish,i looked the juwel 180
but the filter looks an eyesore,i know it can be taken out but this seems a waste of money,my budget is£300-£400 for tank and stand
so reccomendations would be greatly appreciated.

the juwel filters are actually very good imo, and theyre not that much of an eyesore

, put some plants in the front of it, but then if you did take it out to add an external you could always sell it on..
for a budget like that you could go a lot bigger than a 180 ( if you have the room).. search ebay -- i would expect to pay around the £80 mark for a used 180 complete

i'm with Shelagh on this one, IMO you cannot beat a Juwel tank for value for money (and the filter is actually not a bad filter, contrary to what you have read).

Agree that the juwel is a fantastic tank and the internal filter is easy to remove.

Alternatively, www.ndaquatics.co.uk do a custom made 36" x 24" x 18" with cabinet for £370 plus an additional £80 for lights and fittings, a little bit more expensive and you'd obviously have to buy a filter and heater seperate but it might be something worth considering because that tank, although taking up no more footprint that the rio 180 is actually 67 us gallons.

That is of course if you want to buy new, as mentioned you can get some fantastic deals on ebay on used tanks, little tip, search for jewel and jewul as many people spell 'juwel' incorrectly and you will find listings that dont get as many views, more chance of getting a bargain.
