With my big community tank, one thing I really like about it is that I've got several different generations of different species- from tiny babies, to juveniles to adults- all swimming around happily together; to me this makes it look both bigger and somehow more natural.

The downside is, it's a complete pain to gravel vac a 240 ltr that doubles as a fry tank, you have to use a really small vac head and it takes forever!

my best, i think is the fact that i set it up all myself (and help from you guys) meaning i bought everything, chose what fish and planst to add etc.
the worst thing is erm...(having trouble thinking) nothing at the moment. its look ace at the current time,its possabily over stocked a little due to livebearers and their fry. they will be gone soon though

I love our tanks they look amazing.
with a 6 gal hightec planted in the living room, a nano reef set up. and a 92 gal tank with the big stuff in it, it looks great....

the dowside water changes are a real ball ache,

60 gal

indivudually they look ace, i don't like how much room they take up in the living room though

oops typo.....

You decide witch one to get rid of then....

not saying we should, i want to keep them all....... but for me that's the worst thing about having them.

oh well nice big house in a year or two though

Where to start? I've four tanks!

2.5g planted
Best Aspect: Tiny size makes maintenance a breeze. Super cheap too. Nice rectangular shape.
Worst Aspect: Wish I had a smidge more lighting, would like to go Dutch with this tank. Has some diatoms now since I removed the betta and snails and left the tank for platy fry.

8g Dutch planted
Best Aspect: Color, color, color! Did I say color? It is my favorite tank right now. Chose the residents for this tank. Nice rectangular shape.
Worst Aspect: Rescuing platy fry. I need to put reigns on that female for a while. Off to find a predatory fish for an 8g nano. :devil: Constantly tweaking layout in futile attempt to achieve perfection...It'll never happen. :-(

20g Planted
Best Aspect: I actually got to choose my fish for this tank, so I like the occupants. My first tank in Miami. Nice rectangular shape.
Worst Aspect: All the plant cuttings get thrown in there. It is experiment central, so the scape stinks. The more water you have, the heavier it is...Water changes becoming a pain. Layout is fixed because I can't move the bloody wood, it has so many plants growing on it.

36g planted
Best aspect: Largest tank, most flexibilty with stocking. Very stable tank. Love the hardscape.
Worst aspect: Again, cutting central, no layout (other than jungle). Setup this tank for 36 cherry barbs so, there went any future plans for stocking. Had originally wanted Angelfish with rummynose tetras and Brochis, or just tiger barbs with a shoal of smaller botias. Have the Angelfish, have the Brochis, I guess cherry barbs look a bit like rummynose. Oh well, can't fault a breeding pair of Cherry barbs...Did I mention, water gets heavier? :hyper: :shout: BOW FRONTS ARE A CURSE FROM THE FISHKEEPING GODS!!!!!! :shout: :crazy: The back corner has no plants, I can't reach it, the tank's 21" deep. Not a tank I would have purchased myself. Family purchased this one.

That enough?

llj :lol:

We have a number of tanks.........but the one that has the biggest pro's and con's is the Kitchen "thin" tank.

This tank is on the window sill........5ft long....2 ft high....but only 6.5 inches wide.

Best aspect:
The "wow" factor....it really is an unexpectedly cool looking tank...filling the window with a living picture etc, etc...constantly changing and moving.

Worst aspect:
Maintenance....I work out....my arms aren't small....the gap at the top of the tank (between glass struts) is only 3 inches wide all along the tank......my arms only go in to halfway up the forearm.........the substrate (and fish-poo) is 24 inches down...I have to use kitchen implements....and pursuade my wife to stand over the sink with her arm stuck down into the top of the tank. More than once we have had a discussion over why I won't smash the glass to set her free whilst I pursuade her to be "calm"... :crazy:

...planting is a pain....cleaning is a pain.....anything that goes in the tank (rocks, wood etc) has to fit through a 3 inch gap....

...but it does look good!

1st 125gal (tropical community tank);
Best aspect: live plants are growing great, fish are happy and healthy.
Worst aspect: Have a lot fake grass-like plants in the tank- i don't really like them, but i don't want to take them out yet as they are offering a lot of cover to the masses of platy and guppy fry in there at the moment (which i want to keep, particularly the platy fry, which tend to be the most vunerable fry in my experience).

2nd 125gal (coldwater community tank);
Best aspect: a. Looks great, love the massive peices of driftwood, fish are happy and healthy.
Worst aspect: b. Wish i could grow live plants in it, but i can't as the goldfish eat them or dig them up as soon as i try to grow anything in there.

3rd 125gal (sub-tropical community);
Best aspect: a. Plants are growing very well, fish are happy and healthy.
Worst aspect: b. I have too many plants- i want to put them in the coldwater tank when the goldfish are moved out of it into the pond later this year, but for now the plants have to stay in this tank. I guess on the plus side, they are providing lots of cover for fry in there at the least though.

5-7gal quarentine tank;
Best aspect: a. Its small and easy to look after, its not a high maintence tank like the others.
Worst aspect: b. Looks very boring. However, i guess it doesn't really matter, its just a quarentine/hospital tank.

15g

Best Aspect: the plants.

worst aspect: doesnt really have a majorly bad aspect about it... I dare say the fish are the worst aspect because it was my first tank and still has the same kind of fish in it and those kind of fish dont interest me very much, but its a nice appealing tank to look at.

PFK nano cube

Best Aspect: My little dwarf puffer, hes so cute.

Worst Aspect the poop all over the sand

10g

Best Aspect: The fact that its brackish and i love the BBGs

Worst Aspect: The algae, its horrendous, and i just cant get rid of it, i barely even turn on the tank lights anymore but it still keeps growing.

20g

Best Aspect: Wilfred my lovely snakehead :wub:

Worst Aspect: Nothing really..... Looks a bit bare but doesnt really bother me.

8g divided

Best Aspect: It's empty

Worst Aspect: It's empty :p

240L - Best; It's my biggest and has my most interesting fish in, plus I love the wow factor of it.

Worst The 3d sponge background, even though it looks great it's a pain in the ass to keep clean, I wanna rip it off but hubbie won't let me!!

70L - Best It's an ok size, not too big taking up loads of much needed space

Worst It's too small for my goldfish, but I can't upgrade until we move

50L - Best I love the little chinese pagoda & bridge my husband has put in it, the 2 corys who live in it love hiding under them, Oh and the fact it only cost £10!!

Worst - The location, they have to live in the kitchen until we move.

21L - Best Small so can be placed anywhere really, currently in the bedroom and it looks great.

Worst It's so small, I don't know what to put in it, I'm pretty swayed towards a betta.

I can't wait until we move so i can get a 180L(or bigger) for the goldfish and turn their old tank into a small tropical community tank. Hopefully we'll have enough space for me to get another 240L or bigger :)
