Community for me too ! Single species tanks DO have an immediate "wow factor" but I like the different "personalities on a community !

community for e as well have had one going for 5 yrs ,every now again rescape it, and through fish dying now and again, enjoying putting new fish in

community, unless i could have a massive tank like CFC's then i would go for oscars and other oddballs. (not even sure if they do go with anything else lol)

yay go oscars got to catch up it 6-1 to communitys at moment,,,,

i love oscars and have two in a community tank 566litres...tinfoil barbs/silver sharks/salvini/plecs/birchir/oscars<yes they do mix ok with the right fishes

then i have a solo tank with a beautiful highly aggressive jaguar cichlid all alone, the solo tank is well worth sacrafising for one fish if thats what you want,one fish

for me its quality not quantity,,,,,,male jag pic below with the oscar was in the community tank til he went crazy, i moved out and sold a breeding pair of angels,rehoused a breeding pair of bristlenose plecs and guppys to house the solo jag

oscaars i s want one they have great perosnalities. Also its moew of a challenge which i like. I love the way they have personality as well.

Definitely community - variety is the spice of life

I would like a species tank too but not necessarily Oscars.

When i see a large single fish in a tank it kinda reminds me of a caged animal pacing up and down, whereas i feel that aesthetically a community of smaller fish in a planted tank somehow looks more natural. Having said that a large mature cichlid like a jag or GT is quite an impressive sight, especially when you realise he is eyeballing you as much as you are him!
My vote is for a community tank tho.
