Not quite sure what you mean when you say, 'What's going on?'
 
Do you mean the algae growth on the plants or the slightly cloudy water?
 
First of all, please read up on cycling before you do anything else, if you haven't already. Did you cycle 1st before adding the platies? What are your tank dimensions and volume? What are your water parameters? Do you have a test kit etc...?
 
Without knowing the answer to some of those questions above may make it a bit more difficult to diagnose your problem...
 
If it's the algae - algae needs a couple of things to grow; light and nutrition. You could try reducing your photo period and reducing feeding until you see a reduction in algae growth.
 
If it's the cloudy water - this is normal for a new tank and is usually caused by a bacterial bloom. It's normally harmless and will die down over time with water changes and so on.

I meant all the gunk floating round in the water.  64 litre tank. got an API master kit and waiting for the cycle to complete tbh
 
Looks like uneaten fish food?
 
Clean the filter more, Add filter floss etc should sort it.
