if they don't survive the ride then how come when they say that if u keep a mandrin u must have a fugium to keep the pods for safehaven and spread into the tank?

Sorry for not replying sooner....
I dont have a refugium, i have a sump (slightly different termination)

My tank is run with Live rock with the sump consisting of Mineral Mud with macro Algaes for nutrient exportation. I also support this with a few mangroves in the sump to help with nutrient export. No other form of filter is used in the tank.

I have currently in my tank the folowing...

Asfur Angel
Blue Ring Angel
Anthias
Clown
Emperor Tang
Marine Beta
6 Line Wrasse
Silty Wrasse

As for the pods not surviving the run to the main tank and mandarins... Refugiums operate differently to sump by being placed above the main tank (usually) and thus there is no powerhead or pump for them to circumnavigat, they merely drop down into the main tank and will survive the transfer with ease. This means a good source of food fos such fish as mandarins.
In a sump there needs to be a pump to return the water back to the main tank and this is where the pods in a sump are usually killed before returning to hte main tank.
