What Wrong ?

Keep the temp up until they are cured, then lower it very gradually. Your fish will be fine.

Some of the fish where going crazy yesterday, they were rubbing up against rocks and stuff. My main worry is our only male Gurami,he has not eaten anything really for 3 days or more. He looks a bit better tonight though,he does not seem to have as many tiny spots.

Fingers crossed, and thanks for all the help.

It's probably not the temp that's causing the flashing. More likely the disease itself. Gouramis are usually more tolerant of high temps than other species. I have kept Neons and Cories at that temp for treatment before without any problems. But if you're concerned, and it makes you feel better, you could lower the temp. It will just take a few days or so longer to defeat the disease.

Think I will let things ride on this one and keep the temp at a steady 82* degrees. I will redose tomorrow and do another water change on Wednesday night after work. Hopfully by then some fish will be showing signs of making a recovery and my male Gourami will have some appetite back.

I will keep you posted if thats ok.

IMHO, you've just contradicted yourself - since it's so contagious, it's better to treat the whole tank - I believe it's parasitic, not fungal, and the parasites are only vulnerable to treatment whilst in the free-swimming lifestage, not whilst they're attached to the fish

That's very true about treating the whole tank for those reasons. I simply thought that as the only one showing symptoms was the gourami, it may have been newly added and so could get away with treating just the one fish. I have successfully done that before - treating the one fish with symptoms and not needing to treat the other fish as they've remained healthy. But, as you say, treating the whole tank would be the way to go if you believe the rest of the fish are going to be affected also.:)

You should start to see some improvement by tomorrow (Tues.) Definitely keep posting. We all learn from each other's experiences.

More bad news at 7-00am this morning. Lost one our 2 Bristle Nosed Plecs. Clown Loach are also infected but the other 2 Gouramis and the swordtails seems ok. Guppys are lethargic but the plattys seem ok.

Dosed the tank this morning, will do another water change tonight after work and give another update.

Absolutely fuming tonight.

I popped into our LFS and had a chat. Apparently I was wrongly advised on the correct dosage of WS3 (based on a 'misunderstanding' of my tank capacity) . Basically I was dosing for a tank of 70 lts, instead of the correct capacity of 170 lts (allowing for displacment). Anyways,we Lost 1 more fish this afternoon, thats 4 in total since the outbreak. Almost all my fish are showing signs of the virus now,my other clown loach is in a bad way,the large swordtail and 3 of our remaining plattys are similar.

Have now redosed with correct dose which should be 0.75 ml per 48 hours .

Absolutely Gutted. :shout:

Better news this evening.

After dosing with the right amount of medication for 48 hours, most fish are now showing definate signs of coming back from the brink. We hae however lost around 30% of our fish, but the bigger stronger fish seem to have survived....so far.

Will post again after the weekend.
