Right I have a 2ft x 1ft x 1ft tank sitting on my bedroom floor.

and I just want some idea's from you lot of how I could set it up?
I'm already planning to put my current female zebra danio in there and buy two more once it set up and ready to go (cycled etc)

I would like it to look fairly exotic/rainforrest look if that's possible with the Zebra Danios?

Questions:

1. What substrate? (I currently have a tank with a mixture of white stone and sand)
2. What plants?
3. What rocks/branches/bogwood/decorations?
4. What filter?
5. What light settings?
6. What other fish?

Thanks for all the idea's you guys and girls give me.

I am open to your suggestions, hence why I've put this post.

I seem to enjoy the look of natural gravel. I use plastic plants due to the fact that they are easier to keep alive since they are never alive. Some loaches would make a nice addition to your plans.

1. i'd go for sand
2. live plants look best but are abit challenging to maintain
3. if you want something natural, go for bogwood or rock caves
4. i use an overhead filter for my 29g
5. depends on the plants you have and the amount.
6. i would suggest angels, around 4. i dont think they would make a meal out of your danios

nice suggestions people.

i would really like to have mouth brooders, or egg layers if possible...

keep the idea's coming

do you think a 2ft x 1ft x 1ft tank would make a nice place for a pair or trio of kribs, with 2-3 corys?

I think you'd have plenty of room for even 4 or 5 kribs and 4-5 corys... but that's just me...

if your planning on getting kribs, only a pair (i.e male and female) is needed. Once a pair of kribs are formed they will be aggressive towards others of its own species (leading to some deaths) and once the spawn, they will be aggressive towards other species in there with them. I would NOT suggest angelfish for a tank that small. Angels need at least an 18inch high tank, and to keep 1 moreover 4 would be not suited for 15g like yours.

wasn't going to get angels, and thanks, I though have 2 females would be easier then jsut having 1?

like the male wouldn't bother the 1 female all the time.

but if you say 2 then ok :)

2 Kribs (male,female)
3 zebra danios (1male, 2female)
3 corys (1male,2female or 3 female)

yep, only a pair will form. no such things as trios. be aware that kribs tend to spawn regularly and become territorial once they do so to other fish especially the corys since they also occupy the lower levels of the tank. if you dont want them to spawn, dont put any kind of cave or any other flat roof surface. provided they dont spawn, they should be alright. but if you plan on breeding them in the future, all you need is a coconut cave or tilted flower pot and should best be kept alone in your tank to do their business.

yeah I will breed them maybe 5 times... over a certain amount of time like once every 2 or 3 months :)

1) Gravel...Choose your favorite color. I'm a fan of black myself.

2) Any you want. Live plants...I would make sure that you have plenty of lighting. Remember the 2wpg suggestion.

3) Rocks, bogwood, plants, slate...that should about cover it.

4) Cheap...sponge... atisponge.com. For $20 you can filter a 125. LMAO Ok...for close to that anyways. But, I have tank your size, and the air pump was $10 and the sponge filter was $12.

5) Real, live plants... 2wpg. Fake...how bright you want it?

6) Corys... Find Stebai or Aenus. But, just about any cory will do....they are all very cool. :) 4 -5 should be good. :) And you can toss in 3 or 4 danios as dither fish...they don't take up much room at all. ;)

Just my 2 cents. ;)

thanks for that darkwolf29a,

the fish going in will hopefully be these (if it's not too many)

2 Kribensis (male and female)

3 Zebra Danios (male and 2 females)

3-4 Corys (1 male and 3 females, or all females)

but still looking for suggestions on everything else.

I will be having a go at live plants *I have live plants in my current 9Gal tank, they are doig ok just a lil bit of algae here and there, any suggestion to getting the stuff off?)

ok so I've taken a look on SeaPets.co.uk and basically wrote down what I will need to buy for the 2 ft tank etc and have made a total price, if I see it anywhere else for cheaper then I'll obviously buy it there instead of SeaPets.co.uk

TV Cabinet/Stand: £27
Pea Gravel (25KG): £9.95
Silver Sand (3KG): £2.59
Biobox Filter System 1: £52.99 (not sure how big it is though)
or
Fluval 2Plus or 3Plus: £20.95 (2plus) or £26.95 (3plus)
Nutrafin Mini Master Test Kit: £21.99
Nutrafin GH/KH Test Kit: £7.59
Tetra Aquasage 500ML: £ 13.49
Tetra EasyBalance 250ML: 7.25
Aquarian Growth Flake Food 25G: £3.69 (might get 2 tubs)
Aquarian Catfish Tablet 50G: £3.69 (might get 2 tubs)
Aquarian Tropical Fish Flake Food 200G: £16.95
Arcadia Lamp Holder Leads: £5.99
£15-30 for wood/rocks
£5-20 for live plants

*Now I need your help*
Which filter should I go for out of those 3 I've chosen.
Also what lighting tube should I go for?
And any preferrences on live plants? (I would like some tall, medium and substrate coverers)
Is that silver sand any good or should I get some different sand?

The 2ft tank will have 2 Kribs, 3 corys and 3 zebra danios (hopefully not overstocked)

Also should I get a air pump, if so which one?

Thanks for reading

well I went to argos and bought that TV Cabinet/Stand, and it took some time and frustration putting it together but one up and coming blister later here it is, with the tank on top:

There is no water in the tank at the moment as it told me to let the glue dry for 8 hours *cabinet*

Should I getting a different hood *did so before but was too small * or keep the silver one...
