What Would U Do With:

Take those goldfish, WCMM and algae eater out and put a nice potted plant in it

Sell it or keep it as a spare hospital/fry tank.

Or if it was where no-one could see it, shrimp tank.

I really don't like biorbs :p. Anyone know if the light on them can actually grow plants?

nice name, its coldwater tho so theres no point it being fry tank, unless i get a heater would the heater look stupid in that small a tank

stick a heater in it and get some dwarf spotted rasboras it there

Throw it away they are pretty crap. Or turn it into a gumball machine.

It's only 3 gallons so for coldwater fish you have...no options. If you keep the fish in there that you haveyou will inevitably shorten their lives drastically and kill them. You could buy the heater for the biorb and have it as a tropical shrimp tank though. Some people will no doubt tell you to get a betta, but I am not one of them . I won't keep one in anything less than 5 gallons as I prefer a fish to have some sort of swimming space in it's permanent home.

Seriously, I'd say a tropical shrimp tank.

Plants-wise you could try low light varieties and see how you get on. Mossballs , Java ferns and Java moss should all work fine, and shrimp love moss so for a shrimp tank that would be great.

thankyou, there is an ample swimming area- what i dont understand is that there are millions of people with approx same or smaller colodwater tanks all around the world with 3 goldfish in them- how come these dont die, why are they ok

you might not be asking but it was really good advice to take out the goldfish, a goldfish needs 20g at least when adult and you dont have to wait years for them to get BIG either
for every extra goldfish you have you need another 10g's so thats 30g for 2 so your biorb isnt just small its tiny
take out those fish and have a shrimp tank thats the best option

I vote gumball machine!

On a serious note you could have a shrimp tank but if you kept an easy "first shrimp" such as cherries or snowball shrimp they will breed fast and you will have to find a way of selling/giving away the baby shrimp, because a 15ltr baby biorb could only hold about 15 cherries max and thats including offspring. They also need a very mature(3 months) filter and won't survive the cycling process. good luck.

They do die. Many years short of their actual lifespans. Goldfish have a lifespan of around 30 years and an average adult size of anywhere between 10 -14 inches long when they are kept correctly( which, no offense but you are not doing this ) . For a pair of ordinary goldfish you need about 55 gallons for them to grow properly and have enough swimming space when they have grown.

A 3 gallon Biorb will stunt their growth ( the skeleton will stop growing and the internal organs will keep growing until there is no more space to grow into ,this causes health problems and shortens their lives ) and they will die early deaths. So no actually it isn't ample swimming space at all.

Upgrading to the aforementioned 30 gallon for the time being will be better than nothing, or better yet, give them to someone who has a pond which is really the best thing for them if you don't have space for a 55 gallon tank.

these goldfish you talk about all over the world how many do you think reach maturity and how many do you think die after not even a year or two
would it be ok to keep dogs for a year or so and then have to buy a knew one coz its dead i dont think so

thats up to you but why are you on the forum as you dont care or seem not to want to take care of your fish

I agree goldfish in a 3 gallon its only big enough for shrimp or maybe possibly a beta

Presuming you are cruel enough to leave the fish in there the goldfish will eat your wcmm's if they can acctually get big enough

I have a normal goldfish in a 55gallon he is 10" at the moment along with 2 fancy 3" goldfish and a plec 4" who will be sold eventually.
