What Wood Can I Gather Myself For My Tank

I live near Epping Forest, I was just wondering, though its highly unlikely I know, if there is anything I could collect myself, roots near ponds perhaps... anything apart from wood maybe?

Oak and beech is safe for aquarium use but the wood must be completely dry with no green through the wood and all bark needs to be removed before adding it to the tank.

The fallen leaves of oak and beech trees can also be used fpr decorative effect but you would need to have collected them back in the Autumn.

Sorry i should have been clearer, it doesnt matter if the wood is wet from the weather but the wood needs to be dead and be dry of any sap in the wood.
