what was your very first fish purchase

My very first fish were mollies I chose them because of being livebearers.

my first fish was a betta, and my first cichlid was Jewl witch i put in my 55g with about 40 mollys or so, she had a feast but i had no idea what cichlids were or there agression

My first fish were the 8 swordtail fry that my frind gave. I had no idea on what they were, only that they were swordtails and gave birth to live young. I also knew at that time that they grew to about 12cm and the male had a sword and the female didn't.
I did some reaserch and found out a bit more.

i started with bettas did no research till L8R and the place i got it from said all it needed was water. the poor thing struggled along for about 3monts b4 i got a heater 4 it. then it died about 6 monts after.

I started off with classic community fish 5 years ago, and am still going I think my first fish were neon tetras, a bala shark or two (having no idea how big they got) and a couple of clown loaches I haven't had balas for about 3 years now though.

I got 2 big goldfish when I was 4 - a gold one and a white one.

They lived about 10 years and then somebody bought us 2 baby koi which brought disease to the tank and killed everybody.

When I was 8, my first ever tropical fish was a 12" Plec that some idiot gave us to put in with the Goldfish. We got him his own tank with a heater a week later and then bought two neons and two glowlights to keep him company. I didn't really have that much say in stuff 'cos I was like 8 so my mum made all the decisions for me.

I don't remember. My first fish were Ancistrus sp. cf. temminckii (those plecos). First purchase? Hmm... Neon tetras maybe? Or guppies (Poecilia reticulatus ). The tank was a quite mess, small tank with goldfish, betta, angel, platies etc... And once the tank was full of fishes because, of course, guppies and platies bred like rabbits.

I didn't studied at all anything about fishes. When they died, I bought new fish But I was then about 8 maybe 9 yo. Huh!

Ah I hadn't thought of all the goldfish I'd had over the years, I'd had goldfish for years before I had tropicals

I think first fish in general was Goldfish, but the first fish i actually bought was a betta... and to which i though a nice Crayfish would be cool to add to his little bowl... OMG.... that was a disaster. I quickly bought a 20 Gal, and started a community, with the crayfish added... again, that was another disaster.

The damn Crayfish Shredded my poor betta (just his fins.... basically all of them, but they grew back, after a long time!) then he went and shredded and Ate all kinds of my community fish. Needless to say i gave him away to someone else

Leopard danios I got them because to me they look like mini trouts and reminded me of my fishing days.
I new nothing about keeping fish in a tank but had pond experiance. Having now done reasearch on danios( and finding over 30 types), I now think that I'm confident enough to breed them.

My first fish was last November and my research on fish was to ask at about 3 or 4 different stores as to which ones would be suitable while I was checking out the deal they would give me.

The first purchases were 5 zebra danios, 5 w.c.m. minnows, and 5 golden barbs

my first fish was a platy mo.mo lester he just died not too long ago. we had bettas and stuff like that b4 but ii count mo as my first because this is MY tank.Im the only one who takes care of it.
