What veggies/fruits do you feed your fish?

I got some food clips and wanted to feed my fish some zucchini or cucumber. Would the fish in my signature eat that? Also, if I can't find organic can I peel it and give it to them that way? I live in a really small town so I might not be able to find organic produce. This summer we'll be growing our own squash and cukes so it won't be an issue then.

Also, do you ever give them things like apple slices, etc? Any other ideas to clip into the tanks?

i feed them some cucumber and lettuce,

im preety sure your fish will eat it and maybe some peas would be nice, and funnily enough i threw a peice of apple in yesterday and they seemed to like it.....alot

For the cost of a slice of produce, its a worth while experiment to see if they like it.
It won't hurt them (as long as you skin it so any chemicals applied won't go in the tank). After a few days if they don't take to it, take it out, eat the rest of the produce that you didn't put in the tank, and perhaps you try again a few weeks down the road (it took my pleco a week or two before he tried cucumber - then he decided it was the best thing ever).

ok how do you do it???

i put in a chunk of cucumber for my plec a while ago, and surprise it floats!!!!

so how do you peeps feed stuff like this to the fish.


the other fish in the tank did nibble it away as it floated for a day. then i took it out.

I always weight my cucumber and stuff down with a piece of lead the stuff thats wrapped around the plants when you get them, it works a treat and never noticed any ill effects.

Either weigh it down with lead, stick it to something sharp (a small branch of bogwood works well) or par boil it.

I have been feeding my fish peas lately. I blanch them then take the outer case off. The fish go ballistic over them. The loaches look really funny swimming around with this huge pea in their mouths. My Bristlenose sits at the bottom of the tank sucking away for ages on his pea.

Something that I tried the other day was a cherry tomato. I cut it in half, thinking that they might not manage to get through the skin (which I washed thoroughly). The whole thing was gone in about 2 hours!

I just went to the room where my community tank is to check and I had 2 of my ottos eating my weighted dwon cucumber slice. I think I'll give them some zuchinni next.
