Just wondering as in my 120 there are a lot of plants with a decent amount of various fuzzy type algaes. I think there may be 3 types all together. Seeing as I have room for a couple of nerites I figured it was worth asking what types of algae it is that they actually eat.

I only have algae on my slow growers, and feed the fish both veg and algae wafers aswell. So supplementing the diet once the majority of the algae has gone isn't a problem.

They mainly just eat diatoms and green spot/dust algae from flat surfaces like the glass and rocks. They don't really eat hair algae or algae in places they cant easily reach so don't rely on that.

They wont eat algae wafers or any supplements in most tanks either.

But a 120L with some noticeable algae will probably be fine for 2 or 3. It's a shame it's hard to tell since they take months to starve.

Well there is plenty of green spot on the back and sides as it doesn't particularly bother me so I just let it do it's thing.
It's the feathery and hairy stuff on slow growing leaves that I wanted to try and get rid of. I thought if there was a 'natural' way to do it, then I do like the look of nerites so it would've been beneficial to all, they'd be earning their keep so to speak :D.

As it stands I probably wont get any then. Thanks for the info though, very helpful.

ever consider otos, or amano shrimp? otos arent nearly as sensitive IME as people make them out to be. and you have plenty of food for them so they should do great!
just a thought.
cheers
