What type of sand is best for a betta tank?
I am thinking of changing over from gravel to sand in my betta tanks, but I'm not sure which sand to use

+1 for what lilfishie said.

they only problem with Playsand is aesthetic. there is little choice of colour. apart from that its just as safe as anything with Aquarium written on it, and vastly cheaper.

Ok, thanks. :good:
Is fine or coarse sand better?

well, that kinda depends. if you have active bottom dwellers, as someone noted, fine sand can get kicked up. but i do know it does not happen in high water flow tanks (mine has a real 5x turnover). and anyway, after a short time the sand tends to get compacted, reducing the amount of sand that gets disturbed.

@standby. Playsand, by definition, is inert. with no additives. that is unless you know of a type sold that does have additives? if so, report it. as it should not be sold so. (trades descriptions act)
