Hi guys,

I have recently purchased what I though were 3 Black Molly's and 3 White Molly's. But when reading up on the net it is not that easy. I am curious what you guys think. :dunno:

I wanted to identify them so that I knew what size I would eventually expect them to be. The LFS said 2".

(The First two are the Males the other four are female).

Look like black and white molly's to me! The first black molly pictured looks like its fins are a little more exotic, maybe there is a term for that one.

The first pic is of a male sailfin lyre tail Black molly, second pic is a silver male sailfin lyre tail molly, third pic is a reg female black molly, fourth pic is a female reg black molly, Fifth pic is male and female(female is highier) silver sail fin lyre tail molly.

Hi fishluver. Thanks for your reply i thought they may be lyretail Molly's but when I studied the pics of the sailfin they seem to be different, so confusing. :-(

The lfs say they are standard Mollys, but sometimes inbred (perhaps with Lyretail) and he has never know any he's had grow bigger than 2".

I appreciate that you suggest one male and one female in the fifth pic, however, I think it is just a bad photo shot. Swimming in the tank the fins below on both these fish are trianglar and look the same in both fish, but different from the actual male. (Also the fish shop assures me they are both female). It can be so hard to get a good picture.

P.S. how do you get a good picky. I must have taken at least 90 to just get this bunch. They either come out blurred because the fish swim so fast or the hide when the see me coming with the camera. (The must be like me, hate camera's lol   )
