Hi all!
Firstly I'm a novice to the hobby, so I wasn't sure if I should post here or the beginners thread. I've had a community aquarium for a couple of months and it's going surprisingly well. I've only had to do 1 water change in that time, I know live plants help but that seems too good to be true, all the tests are showing its fine. I only have 2 dwarf gouramis and 4 mollies in there atm but I still thought a water change every 2 weeks might be needed.
To my questions, I have a second tank which is a 50G and i require a mat under it, I bought 2 packs of AVA foam floor mats that interlock which are 10mm thick. If I double them up to make it 20mm thick would this type of mat and thickness be ok?
Second question, im going to initially use the tank as a quarantine tank for my community tank before using it as a single species tank. Is it worth adding the sand, driftwood and plants while I'm using it as a quarantine tank or wait? What are the pros and cons?
Cheers everyone
