The size of the tank limits you to fish that dont have a maximum length over 10 inches or so, with some very sedentry fish (those that don't move much) you can extend that to about 18 inches maximum for a single solitary fish but if you choose very active fish then it limits their sizes down to about 8 inches as they will require more length to swim.
