I was wondering what would be some cichlids that i could get for a 20 gal. that would breed hopefully. And price?

20 gallons is too small for any african cichlids except kribs and they cant go in with other malawis cos they dont come from the same place at all.

you need a bigger tank (30 gallon minimum and even then you could only get maybe 4 yellow labs cos there the least aggressive) or jus stick to buying your fish.

This is a bit of a catch22 - cheap cichlids are generally easy to breed but because of this the stores are swamped with them & you won't be able to shift the babies.
Convicts & kribs are good examples.
If yoy want to raise some for your other tank just use the tank as a release tank for a holding female (I assume mbuna here)

If you want to keep the tank seperate then you are limited to dwarfs, small african river species like A thomasi, shellies, small rock dwelling tangs or if the tank is long maybe Steatocranus.
You could get a pair of kribs as tiny babies for about a quid , a pair of blockheads or Rams about £8, shellies & rarer species probably more......
What are your water parameters? - if cost is an issue stick wit what your tapwater will accomodate.

20 gallons is fine for shelldwellers, might be worth a look if you're interested.

shellies all the way!!!

I still dont get the idea of supplying a 55.

you realize they keep breeding over and over, what then?

you need to plan this more and do more reading/research of species

most importantly keep in mind ADULT size of any fish your thinking of buying.

what do all the different shell ones look like?price?would i need to get them online because ive never seen any at the store?

What's in the 55 and how do we know shell dwellers are the appropriate choice for breeding for it?

Nevermind i went and got some fish. thanks for the help
