hi :)
i have my 15 gallon tank which hasnt got aything in it yet
i was concidering moving my 5 rescued tiger barbs in
its planted tank with caves in it.Been cycled for nearly a year
and currently holds 4 khuli loaches which make very little waste
can anyone think if anything diffrent which can go with them?(with or without the tiger barbs)
ive tried allsorts including dwarf gouramis.livebearers.black phantom tetras.mollies.cories.sharks and more and im looking for something on the larger side to put in it.any ideas?

with kuhli loaches and the tank size limited more other species for the tank. As alot of those nice beautiful fish required alot more space and not capable with kuhli loach. Best obtion to that tank in my opinion still remain with small size tetra.

not sure i can get rainbowfish. My lfs has limited stock. They do occasionally have nice things in though ill keep my eye out when i go thanks Bigc

IMCL85-khulies are small and produce little wastebut thanks for your comment.and ill bear that in mind :)

Huh? Why wouldn't the nicer fish be compatible with kuhli loaches? Kuhli loaches can go with practicly anything because they aren't aggressive and produce little waste...just thought your comment was a little strange. Please explain

I think that person means that because kuhlies get to 4" and the tank is only 15 gallons, most of those large, attractive fish germanshepherddiver is after will not fit in without over-stocking.

Australian rainbowfish won't work as they need to be in a school and that's over-stocking.

You also can't put the tiger barbs in a 15 gallon. They need at least a 20 gallon, 30 gallons or more is prefferable. Also, they get quite big, need to be in a school of 7 to limmit nipping and are sensitive to fluctuations which are so very common in small tanks.

In the 15 gallon I'd stick to a small schooling species - neons, glowlights, rummynoses, spotted rasboras, myer's hatchetfish etc - in a group of about 4 as the kuhlies mean you are already almost fully stocked. Alternatively, 3-4 pygmy cories, a trio of endler's or mosquito fish or a trio of sparkling gouramies or honey gouramies would also work. Don't add more than one species as you realy don't have room for much.

N. multifasciatus - the shell-dwelling cichlid - is one more fish to consider. They are tiny and would do fine in a small tank like this and kuhlies usualy get along with them just fine. Research them first as they have a few special requirements.

Wella ctualy you should research all your fish very carefuly before buying them if you want them to live long, full lives.
