my patience has now run out! :shout:

lol no i am loosing it though  i love my honey gouramis and i know how loving and swimming around greating you in the morning fish they can be, thats what made them my favourite fish, i got 3 honeys bout a month ago now if not more now its august and ok, lets be fair they are ill and i am treating them every day with myxasin and waiting for this weekend to also get some primafix aswell ontop of that :/

but this shyness thing is way out of control, as they will come out for something to eat most days and swim around after for hours until i turn my head and WHIZZ there behind the rock, its like they have a phobea of me!?

i have considered moving the rock but then because they are ill wonder if it isnt fair.

its not like i come near the tank and poke my face in i simply sit at my desk near the tank and one look at them and there hiding, ill come upstairs and my room door will be open and they will be swimming around happily and then as soon as I set foot in the room, there gone again :shout:

please help? i have pretty good patience but with honeys who i know are shy at times burt mostly come out to play is it not worth, lets say puting the rock to the back of the tank for an hour a day while im in that room? or am i being unreasonable...i dont know what to do, i supose im a little disapointed as i was really excited when i got them

thanks x

I can tell you that when mine were alive, they weren't shy at all. They were both in front all the time. They were the only ones that didn't split when I came up to the tank. They were the only ones to come to my hand when feeding too. I miss them ALOT. Maybe it's just that they are sick and a little scared. Moving the rock might not be a good idea until they get better. It might serve as a haven for them now. I know I don't like to be bothered when I'm sick. Maybe move it after the treatment is done.

Hope it works out. :)

Most fish will be more upfront and active if they know they have a safe place to retreat to when they're scared. It may be just that they have got enough good hiding places, so they dont feel safe.

My opaline gouramis are terrified of me. If I walk into the room and they're upfront in the tank - BAM! Gone, straight behind the dense plants and into one of the many hiding places I have.

Hi lil-x-me...x :)

My honey gouramis are timid too. Perhaps they are that way because they were wild caught, but they are always hiding behind the filter or in the plants. The only time I see them swimming freely is after I feed them, and then only if I step away from the tank. There is nothing larger than dwarf corys in the tank either, so there is no reason for them to be intimidated by the other fish.

It's too bad I don't see more of them. They are beautiful fish. :D
