Personally i really like te blackwater idea. Other ideas off the top of my head are, heavily planted dwarf puffer tank, female betta sorority tank, or maybe a killi fish tank?
Blackwater Extract is what was mentioned earlier, all it is is tannin and is slightly acidic, good for softer water fish from the amazon region. Saying that i dont know anyone that actually uses it for breeding. lol.

maybe 6-10 sarpae tetras i have had good experences with these even though they are fin nippers, ive never had problems 10 rummy nose or black phantom tetras, and 3 apistos
