What To Cover Tanks With

It's really easy actually. I'm sure you've seen recessed lights similar to this, they are standard office or school fare; http://www.americantinceilings.com/images/db/large/6371.jpg

It is nothing but a thin sheet of stiff plastic covering a generic fluorescent fixture; http://www.malcolite.com/index.php?id=9,4,0,0,1,0

A 2 foot by 4 foot piece costs a few dollars. Cut to size with a razor knife or pair of heavy shears. Ends up being a dollar per top for the tanks you pictured, maybe less. They sell lots of these, people would rather replace them than clean them.

ohh yeaaah i know wut u mean now. Those are everywhere. Strong plastic with dimples all over it.

Seems that would be better than mesh for evaporation wise. My bettas breathe air so I would need to make holes for them. Too bad I don't have anything strong enough to cut it with :(

Keep in mind that what ever you use, the more open space in the cover (such as a mesh which really isn't a comer except it keeps the fish in and cat out) the more evaporation you will have so the more often you may have to do water changes.

Hmm good point. These tanks arn't filtered  (i know, dont kill me) but I change all the water once a week so there wont be too much evapouration. Its not the way most people here suggest to keep bettas but its kept my purple guy alive for 3 years now without any diesease or illness.

anyways. What do you mean " such as a mesh which really isn't a comer" im not sure what a "comer" is??

what i use to cover my tank is, the plastic window from a cheap picture frame.
its cheap and durable,
get someone to help cut it with a sharp blade. do not use scissors because this will cause it to crack.
