Hi,

My tank has had stable Ammonia, Nitrite, and PH levels for a month now. Currently I have 3 Zebra Danios and 2 Golden Danios, and 2 Tropical Red Crab.

My first search for info and the advice I got from the fish place suggested Red crab were ok, but I have now found out it's a bad idea, so these are going back to the store.

I'm trying to find out from the following what I should / can add now and what quantities. What I'm after are:

Dwarf Gourami(3)
Angel Fish(2)
Rainbow SHark(1)
Redtail Rasbora(4)
Otocinclus Catfish(2)

I was thinking about getting The Shark and Catfish now, then waiting 2 weeks (or until tests show water is stable) before getting the Rasbora, then again wait, and then the angel fish, wait then Gourami. Does this sound ok ?

My tank is 20G, and planted.

Are these quantities ok too much, or can I add more ?

Thanks

Ed

Welcome to the forums.

Let's start with what you have:
3 Zebra Danios
2 Golden Danios
2 Tropical Red Crab....these are going back to the store
Good start, but I would get a couple more of each or your danios - as they like to be in groups.

Unfortunatly, 5 danios is already about half the fish you should put in a 20 gallon. If you get a couple more of each kind, you will be 3/4 stocked already. The general rule is 20" of fish for a 20 gallon tank.

Dwarf Gourami(3) 2" each. They are slow swimmers, and might not like the crazy fast danios all over the place, it may stress them out. Also, they might get nipped a little, but that is just a guess.
Angel Fish(2) - These grow to be about 6" long, and I think a 20 gallon is too small for them. They also need a tall tank, since they are very tall fish. A 20L tank is not tall enough, and a regular 20 gallon tank (24x12x16) is not long enough for a fish that size.
Rainbow SHark(1) - 5"
Redtail Rasbora(4) 1.5" each. I would get a few more than 4 of these, as they like to be in large groups. Especially with a larger fish like the rainbow shark, it will make them feel a bit safer IMO.
Otocinclus Catfish(2) 2" each. - great choice, from what I have read, they should be kept in groups of 3 or more.

Personaly, I would get a couple more of each danio, and 3 otos. That would make a fully stocked tank. If you want to add a little more, from your list, I would go with the rainbow shark.
