I went into my room and found all my tiger barbs huddled in one corner looking pale. Immediate response -
I have never seen these fish in one spot for longer than a second. I immediately checked water paramters, all normal (ammonia - 0, nitrite - 0, pH - 7.4).
My next response is an instant water change, even though they had just gotten one yesterday. So I turn off their light and filter, change their water, also giving them salt, and they started seeming more normal. I then turn my light back on, and they FLY back to their corner and start acting shy again. Light off- normal.
What is going on here? Did my fish suddenly become scared of the light?
EDIT: This tank also just finished a mini-cycle yesterday. For the past week there had been low levels of nitrite in the water, and I had been changing their water daily or every other day.
