What The Heck Is The Brown Stuff

I believe its diatoms or brown algae. any method of getting rid of it?

ya, my tank is rather new, about 1 month and i know its common on new tanks, but is there ways to keep it to a minimum?

my rainbow shark seems to like the stuff though...

Have the same stuff in my 30g tank but it's been on the decrease ever since I cut the time the lights stay on from 12hours to 8, may be a coincidence though, my tank could just be maturing. My tank is over 2 months old now.

hmmm could be, since i dont' use CO2. Well there goes another 20 dollars.
