I have one at 22C, two at 24C and one at room temp right now (no heater is ever in this tank), but the 22C will be dropping to 18C for a winter cooling period for my Asian temperate fish in the near future.
Most tropical fish can survive at temperatures between 20 and 30 C, and almost all have temperature variations in their natural environment throughout the year. Also, the fish's metabolism increases with temperature, so the temperature will affect their life span. I keep most tropical fish in the 20-22 C range, although I recommend 22-23 C as ideal for the average community, sometimes up to 25 C, depending on the exact species. In the summer, the air temperature can rise to as high as 36 C here, so the my tanks usually have a varying temperature of 20-32 C throughout the year. Because water is good at holding temperature, these changes are not sudden and usually take weeks, so it's relatively safe for the fish.
