What Tankmates And How Many?

I bought a little tank off ebay - it's 14 inches wide by 9 deep by 10 high (will be 9 once substrate is in) which makes it just under 5USG. The plan is an air driven box filter (which is currently in my 240L tank on standby as a filter for my quar tank but will be replaced by a mini filter I bought which I don't have to keep on standby).

I'd quite like something else in there with whomever is eventually the homeowner - but I'm not sure if it's really big enough for 4-5 cories or khulis is it? Bearing in mine they like groups... someone help me out with this! lol

How many shrimp could I put in there? Hubby has agreed (despite a morbid fear of shellfish) that shrimp would be a nice addition, but what kind and how many?

Congrats on the new tank

To make my 10L fully stocked i could fit in 20 Red Cherry Shrimp.

So i would say buy 10 shrimp and then let them breed etc, the betta may eat some but hopefully some will survive if there is enough plant coverage.

Also, i would highly reccomend Red Cherry Shrimp. I have never kept shrimp before and got these from MermaidMel, they are fab, and its funny to watch them too. IMO they are quite hardy too aslong as the filter is cycled.

They like to hide during the day and come out in the evenings for food, well mine to anyways
