hi all, i currently have a 45 litre tank that i have 6 cories in, a male batta and 6 algae shrimp.

i need to replace the tank today but am not sure what size to get?

Are you moving these fish over and looking to get more? Looking to get other fish?

The response most apt for this question is the biggest size you can afford and house. That way, water quality does not change as drastically, more fish can be housed, etc.

are you planning to add a few more in the future?

the 45 litre tank i have at the moment is very scrappy so just looking for a newer one

There are lots of fish that can go in wiyth a male betta if the tank is a decent size.
Harlequin rasboras are ideal once you get past about 60 litres.

How big a space do you have & what budget?

MY CURRENT TANK IS 18 BY 12 SO NEEDS TO BOUT THAT SIZE AS IT SITS ON A UNIT

sorry about capitals then

You could probably get a new 18x18x12 tank, which will hold about 60 litres or 18" of adult fish, custom made for about £20-£25. Coverglasses are c.£3

Your existing equipment could be used.
New hoods can be expensive but you can get an excellent effect on a tank this size by having glass covers & mounting a picture light or spot light just above it.

That makes about £35 to get a smart new tank with more volume to fit on your existing unit :)
