What Tank Do You Prefer?

Hi - I'm brand new here, and want to get a male betta. I've had a couple in the past, but did things all wrong, based on what I'm reading about bettas online now. I'm really confused about what tank to get. I read on another forum that many people preferred the Maineland Crescent 5 gal. aquarium system. But today I read about the Marine Eclipse Sysem Six, Biube 9 gallon, and there was another one called Boyle or Boyce(?) Can't read my chicken scratch, lol. It was 8 gallons. I want a simple set-up that won't be too costly. Good filter, good heater, deco and thermometer. Also, is it true sponge filters are best for 5-8 gal. tanks? Remember, I'm a total newbie, and I want to start off right so my betta will be happy and comfortable. Thank you for any advice you have to give me!

Ok well imo i like to keep bettas in 15L+ longer rather then high some may find hight challenging for an 8 gal a sponge filter would be best some interbal filters can over heat in my exp

Males are completely solitary (most of tge time there are rare occasions) so shouldnt be kept with other betta other fish will be fine depending on fish

Females can be kept in groups 7+ imo
They dont like strong currents so a spounge filter would be perfect for them
They like temps ( and in my exp are more active) at about 80-82'f
Bettas also enjoy a cooked shelled pea and bloodworm ( not all in one sitting though)

Thanks so much, liquid skills! So now I know I need a tank that is longer than it is high. I wouldn't be putting any other fish in the tank. Well, maybe a shrimp or two. And I'll be sure to get a sponge filter. Wow, this is helping me out a lot. But you didn't say what tank you prefer. I'd like to get opinions on the ones I listed. I want to get a decent tank, not be sorry after I buy it. I have so many questions, but am learning so much on this forum! I really want to do things right this time. I'm going to get a Delta or Half Moon. But if I find a VT in Petsmart that I really like, I might get one of those instead. Tank suggestions please?
