I going for 6 plattys for 2 lots of 6 different tetras (also trying my luck with a betta) i have a spare tank ready incase anything does happen, which i hope it doesnt :(

Which is the best tail type. i have always like CTs much they are more nippy aint they ?
i have a fair strong current with my filter but the hide for my betta is under the fliter so it wont effect him..

If you have a strong current you might consider a PK. They are very nice! Or a delta/super-delta male. Anything more might have a hard time swimming in strong current as well as possibly being nipped. Good luck!

One tail type really isn't more nippy than another, from my experience. Actually, it seems like the larger the fish when young, the more aggressive he is.

A plakat could work well. I've started to see them locally as 'king bettas,' kind of the new 'popular' tail type locally.

of the fish I have known as far as males go, pks and cts where always the most agressive. they also have the least heavy fins and are much faster and more agile. however females of any tail type can be agressive as hell. I honestly never worry about my female getting beat up, it is always my males I worry about.

as far as getting nipped and higher filter flow a pk or a ct with shorter rays is the way to go.

Here are a couple of tail types that might be ok with a stronger current... *these are not my fish just looked them up on google*

Or you could get a bunch of females with different colors, some are crowntail... these are my fish...
