Hey all! Got my 65g tank situated in my room (positioned it so it goes over at least 4 joists under the carpet ;)) So now that ive got everything ready to go, i just need my substrate! So what do you guys think? Sand or pea gravel, need fine substrate as my bottom dwellers cant have their bellies scratched by the substrate! So if anyone has any specific brands, or substrate types that they liked or have used let me know!

I was thinking of a small black colored pea gravel for the heavy planted areas and a nice little divided white sand stream flowing through to break up the aqua scape into 2 parts.. Want to get the substrate ordered soon so i can get the tank cycled/started!

You've been on the forums for a while, so you might have gleaned that most folks like Argos play sand as a substrate. You might be looking for something fancier, but Argos (or any other play sand) is what most of us would recommend, especially with "bottom dwellers."

yup heard alot about Argos play sand indeed! I was just more so curious about the pea gravel, as i don't know many good brands for small grain gravel... what about Aquarium plants.com brand black diamond pea gravel?
