i have been breeding jewell cichlids, though now i want to breed a cichlid fish that is worth breeding, something that my lfs will buy of me at a good price, do use know of any rare and expensive cichlids in Australia?

I dont breed cichlids, but i know a lot of people breed convicts.

Yeah apparently they breed like crazy, some people say stuff like "if your convicts aren't breeding, then there isn't any water" lol. I think they lay 300-400 eggs or something crazy like that, which hatch in 3-4 days. Would probably make good fish if you want quick profits.

Good hardy, "just add water" fish :good: .

what about discus? They seem like one of the most expensive FW fish around (save old Koi). I was at an LFS today and their discus were going for $59 each. I can't find another cichlid in the store for more than about $15.

First of all tell us a bit about your tank size, what fish you currently have in there etc.

dwarf cichlids, aspistogramma and rams can be sold to the lfs pretty easily and dont need much room. Also think about corys- rare corys sell for a few $$$

Angelfish might be good. When they're small they don't sell for as much, but you've got enough tanks that you can let them grow out a bit.

Check out this link on building an angelfish micro hatchery... http://webrbiz.com/angelfish/amh.html
