What Size Tank?

Well tis me again. This time i'm wondering what size tank i would need for these fish if they can live together.

1 x Male betta. (any type, preferably plakat)
1 x Gourami. (preferably honey or dwarf, whichever is smaller)
5 x Kuhli loaches.
7 x rosy barbs.(or any barbs that won't hurt the betta whesther it's long finned or not)
Any of these not going to go together?

hi!

A male betta and Gourami will more than likely not get along. They are both top dwelling bubble nesters. And both are aggressive territorial fish.

A male betta with Khuli Loaches and Rosy barbs will be fine.

A 16G IMO would be minimum 1X male bettas & 5 Rosy Barbs & 4 Khuli Loaches. IMO, the stocking numbers you stated are a tad over. Although if the filtration is powerful it may be do-able, but remember Bettas dont like fast currents.

In general, barbs are peaceful fish, but if not kept in a small shoal of atleast 5, then they tend to start fin-nipping.

i would go for about a 20G and up the barbs and loaches to 8 so have
i male betta
8 rosy barbs or cherry barbs
8 khuli loaches

Thanks. I might skip the betta and just have gouramis with the barbs and loaches instead. I'm having the tank custom built so i need to know so i can tell the person who is building it for me so they can work out the best dimensions.

i would go for a tank aboyt 75x30x30 because the fish you want will prefere length over hight

That is cm right? Not inch?
If that inches then thats a pretty tall tank.

thats cm and will work out about 20G. but if i were you if i where getting it custom built i would get it as big as you can afford and then work out the stocking.

It will be built for free(inc stand) by a friend who has built tanks before. He even built a viv for our bearded dragon for free. I was going to ask him to build me a 3ftx2ftx2ft tank that would range at about 75gals, but my mum said it would have to be abit smaller than that.

thats alright then. i would ask your mum what the biggest size tank she will let you get is and then get one that size.

Well i was going to beg her for the 75gal 3ft tank but i don't know if that will ruin my chances of getting it at all.
