Already got some angels, 90 gallon tank...

Perhaps keep the angels as the "feature" species with a few (six?) of them.

You could have some cory cats (heaps of choices) and a bristle-nose catfish for the bottom, and some "black widow" tetras (as they're called here in Australia - also seen the listed as black skirt and white skirt - Gymnocorymbus ternetzi. Their shape would look great with some angels, and they come in a range of colours - seen the standard black&white, pinks, and blues)

There's heaps of fish that will do well with angels, but remeber they'll eat the smaller ones (eg neons). Angels look good with gouramis, and they look even better in a planted tank. Then again, I'm a fan of planted tanks, so I'm biased...

You may be able to have smaller cheaper fish but the smaller cheaper fish will die more often and earlier and you will prolly end up spending the same amount of money ovre the period of a few years. Cichlids live longer, are hardier and would be ideal for a 90gal tank.

Africa cichlids = rockwork rather than plants. So definitely not African cichlids then!!!

will the angels be in the tnak we are discussing?if so i think that would rule out africans??? i may be worng tho

well this person all of a sudden told me to move my angels in my 90 gallon when i got it, so ya i'm confused too.

basically my understaning of the situation is this, angel are new world chilids, form sout america, as are oscars discuc etc, these require totallydifferntwater comnditons to african chlidsi belive, to furtehr complicate things african chilids come form a varity of lakes and rivers within african agin not all are compatable

you do know that the "pink and blues" are the dyed version of them...

I'd go with the cichlids, i've kept a freashwater community for far too long..kinda boring and even tho they are "community fish" they arnt, loads of problems, for example:

my 55G tank has:
Sparkling gouramis
Cories
Angels
Harlequin Rasboras
etc

Sparkling nips my cories
angels try to eat rasboras
rasboras try to nip others
corys...are they only real community fish

I'd go with africans :D

hmm, the desicions are very close, judging rigt now, i think community tank would win.
