This will be my first one so I don't want to spend a fortune on him.

I will have him in a Juwel 180 with sand substrate and eventually the tank will contain....

Platys
Mollies
Corys
Angels
Black Ruby Barbs
Bolivia Rams
Polka Dot Loach

Any recommendations on what type of Plec will suit me? I don't want one that will grow too big!!

Many thanks :)

get a dawrf type

Bristlenose
clowns
nana's

will all be fine

I also would say a bristlenose plec, cute little fellows and will help keep you tank clean too as an added bonus! They only tend to grow to around 5-8"

I think the nana plec are also known as tiger otos, check this link:

With not wanting a larger pleco, you could get a Rio-Negro pleco that will top out at 4", and is very cool looking - yellow and black. There's also the Tomasi pleco that will max at 6", and looks pretty nifty in a prehistoric sort of way, and a starry night pleco (brownish black with white spots) will max out as well at about 4". The Red-tailed Leopard pleco is a bit larger at full size (8 1/2") but is absolutely astoundingly beautiful AND is a great algae cleaning machine. You can also go to http://liveaquaria.com/product/aquarium-fi...s.cfm?c=830+837 to see the different varieties, what water parameters they prefer, and how large they will become =)
