I need more serpae tetra for my tank because I'm down a few and I like to keep community fish. My fish store, although I really like it and their fish are always healthy, labels the fish generically. The put all the tetras in one tank and label them Tetra. When you walk up and tell them "I would like a few black tetra and some serpaes". You get a very blank expression and are reduced to pointing. Well, I thought this tetra was close enough to looking like my serpaes, just not as red, so I picked a couple out. When I got them home, I realized they weren't that close and they won't school together. It doesn't really matter in the end, because I like them and I think they are pretty and I'll probably pick up some more. I was just curious.

That's awesome (((blue acara)))! Thanks. From what your information says, it looks like I have females - the red fins kind of give it away. And it looks like I need to go buy about 4 more. Thanks for letting me know.

Definitely a female.

Try to keep a ratio of at least 1:2 male:female.

When the males really darken, extend all their fins and circle the females it is a lovely sight.
