i just got 4 platties today and am planning on putting them in a 10 gallon planted tank.
i was thinking java ferns... can anyone suggest anything else? i read a post the other day about someones platties eating their plants and i would prefer this not be the case in my tank :)

i was thinking hornwort too since i know NOTHING likes the taste of it.

thanks in advance

Well, I have amazon sword plant, java fern, java moss, moss balls, dwaf lilly, dwarf sag, and llyodiella in my tank and my platies have never bothered any of it. They do sometimes eat the algea of the leaves, but they have never damaged any of the plants themselves.

I have java fern, amazon sword, anubias, hornwort, etc. with my platies and they on't eat any of it. they prefer to pick the algae off the glass.

thanks. i aslo have some microswords that i havent figured out what to do with. think they would be ok being as small as they are?

With 15w of light (what size is your tank?), your choice is probably limited...

Has anyone successfully managed to grow swords in 1w/g setup?

i have grown a sword with no lights on my tank (the tank was in the basement too)

the tank is a 10 gallon.
