What kind of fish would be suitable to keep in a hexagon tank?

This is just for future reference, should I decide to get more... need them to be fairly easy to keep

I still have Findlay, and will be keeping an eye on him incase he developes what Karen had...

^^fighting fish^^, one of these would be suitable. If you have filtration and a heater, then cirtain tetras would be OK. In a warm room, white cloud mountain minows would also be suited.

All the best

In that tank I would agree with the Betta ( fighting fish ) and shrimps. Most tetras, if not all, need to be in groups of 8 and upwards, and need a long tank for swimming room . A Hex tank is not good for them. You may get away with 4 platy's though.

You also need a much larger and longer tank for the goldfish. Fancy's get to about the size of a cricket ball ( and I have seen one or two even bigger than that ! ) so a hex tank of the size you mentioned yours is ( 39 inches round I believe? ), is going to be too small.

Shrimp sound interesting...

Platy's are.......?

About the goldfish, yes thanks, I know... I remember seeing the advice on my other thread...believe me it HAS sunk in

Not sure I want a fighting fish...will check out the speciailist shop though....

These are Platy's http://www.fishforever.co.uk/platies.html They are livebearers though. Or you could have a community of all male guppies if you don't want babies but would like some colourful small fish.

Shrimp are great, especially Ghost shrimp. I have one and he is such a great character. He will eat from my hand, and they will eat pretty much anything, fish flakes , wafers and pellets, meaty foods, bloodworm ect. Mine doesn't seem keen on daphnia though. He chased one for a while but then left it. Bloodworm and dried tubifex are popular with him. They're just great little things to have, they do a good job of clearing up any leftover food on the bottom ( not that there should be lots ) and I find it interesting to watch the food go into his stomach .

Someone..cant remember who is was.. told they have ghost shrimp, and they keep thinking it has died, but then realises it's grown out of it's skin, again, lol....must adm41it thouh it oes soun interesting, i once had a mussle for a "pet" when i was in France!! lol..found it on the beach, and scooped some seawater for it to live in, for two weeks....i eventually let it go back to the sea, before going home!

apologies for the numbers...cat was sitting on the keyboard, lol
