Oh and the last one is a Melanochromis Auratus.

awesome thank you :)

do they have other names to besides scientific names???
thanks again
shannon

No problem,

The only one that has a common name out of all your fish is the Labidochromis Caeruleus, they are known as yellow labs.

The melanochromis Johanni are sometimes referred to as electric blues but so are a lot of other Mbuna.

Your best bet is to stick with the scientific names for research etc.

I have another question he he he
i have these 2 other fish and they look like same kind but I'm not sure and I thought if they were same kind maybe they were male and female that would be cool. Also i have another fishie in there and I'm not sure what it is but I'll add a pic later its hard to get them with the right light but they are eating when i video them they go crazy lol
ok well heres the pics

what kind is this fishie and is it the same kind as the one next to him.

anotherfish.jpg

thanks

OK, 1st pic and 2nd pic both look like Labeotropheus fuelleborni or Labeotropheus trewavasae, the unusual downturned mouth is unique to this species.

The next 2 pics look like a very fat Maylandia Callainos :D (they are both the same if the pics are different fish)

The last 1 is a Pseudotropheus Elongatus, probably a male.

Thats a lot of fish you have there, what size tank are they in?

not sure how many there are i just know that it was like 180.00 for all the fish(cost for fish only) with the tank when i purchased it from LPS well I didnt buy there tank they were in but the same exact tank and put all the same fish in it, except the convicts but they are all getting along great in there, they are fed regularly and they dont really fight each other tank is 45gal tall tank I will say I have to clean it alot and probably should invest in a bigger tank cause I will probably not seperate these fish they have been in same tank for a while now toegether. Im trying to count them and it looks like about 20 fish. I know everyone will say to many but if the pet store had them together i can to lol besides they love each other, my fish are like puppies i'm not kidding lol i come to ttank and they swarm to the spot i'm in its so funny i mean occasionally we get a high speed chase in there but nothing bad they dont beat eachother up or nothing like the 2 little jack dempseys i had in a 20 gal tank which that is what i started with but only had 2 jacks but i took them back to LPS cause one fish didnt last a day unfortunatly so they gave me 2 convicts instead which i can tell if they are male and female and thats what i got then i seen the tan k of these most beautiful african cichlids and couldnt help myself lol i love them they are Great!!! i have a Big Pink convict he lives alone in the 20 gal tank now cause he's an agressive buger i call him big pinky he is probably mad cause i named him that lol but he's so mean he's bigger to about 3.5 inches but anyways thanks again for your help :) :) :)

shannon

PS the fat fish is really fat and thats same fish in both pics, he eats so much so fast takes from other fish i dont over feed him he over eats the other fishes food and them pics were taking right as i dropped food in and after it was gone he gets stinking huge. I couldnt belive it, and the other fish are like you pig lol he can hardly fit thru his hole when he's done eating lol

Yep some nice fish you've got there, the tank should really be a bit bigger but if you keep up water changes and make sure you have planty of filtration, you should be fine. I run 2 seperate filters on my Mbuna tank to make sure i am over-filtered, this helps if you are slightly overstocked. :)

Watch out for the convicts, if you have a male and female, they get really aggressive if they spawn and have fry. Not sure if they are in the same tank as the Mbuna, if they are, i would reccommend moving them if you can.

yes they are in same tank however from what i'm told they are yet to young and small to do start mating
i had these fish together in the small tank for a while and they didnt nothing but pick at eachother there is enough space here they hide at least and they all seem to get along so far so good, and yes i know i do need a bigger tank i just figured the store had them in the same tank i'd get the same set up this was my first big purchase, the people down the street have a tank and stand on side of there house now for months, i stopped and asked them once already and I'm going to stop again cause its really nice and bigger than mine in length, and about 3/4 the height, which would be good cause i wish the pet store guy would have told me i need to have extra long arms to reach in there cause i never thought of it and now i use what used to be my back scratcher lol to set up bottom and move stuff, and the 25ft hose thing i'm so glad it has that long sucking part of hose lol i dont know how to spell sifining lol but you know what i'm talking about what you hook to you sink, let me tell you i'm 5'3 so you know i'm short lol and have short arms to he he the tank is actually length of my arm i really need to be standing over it but instead i stand on a chair cuase the tank is on a dresser i couldnt afford tank fish and all the guts to run tank and a stand to so stand got left out of purchase til later

hey let me ask you this do you know about fish diseases or anything
cause i have this one fish that started looking bad today and i'm not sure how to explain it but its not ick i have seen that on the feeder guppies which really made me mad, cause they still go in my tank. but its more like his body is changing he is staying at top around filter tube i sit here most the day and the tank is right here, so i do watch them alot belive more than i probably should but its so relaxing and they are beautiful, but he looks liek his scales are raising maybe, I'm not quite sure from here it looks like his scales are turning like a white color but its not ick for sure, I'll put a picture and a little video clip i took up tomorrow morning and maybe you can tell (or not)
thanks again

Is the colour of the fish fading or are the white patches some sort of growth like fungus? If the patches are actually growing on the fish it will be a fungal infection which you can buy various treatments for. If the colour of the fish is fading, it could be a number of things, stress, internal bacteria infection, poor water quality.

Was you tank cycled before adding all the fish? If not you will have massive ammonia spikes which will virtually poison the water. If you can answer these couple of questions, i'll be able to give you better advice.

well i went to LPS and got some stuff now it looks different it looks like the scales are lifting and slime is coming out of them or some kind of funk so he gave me some antibacterial medicine to put in there i have to put in 10 drops per gal so i have done it yesterday to start and will do it for the time on the bottle, and hopefully it works :) hes still hiding up in the top where the guppies hide lol he is eating though he ate this morning when i fed them flakes and the little balls, and i drop a few sticks in there i do flakes for guppies mostly all the cichlids eat the balls.

Hows the treatment going? Hope he makes it. :)
