Look forward to the grey one changing to orange as well, goldfish fry start out that colour and change as they age. Apparently they can turn back to silver in their senior years, that's what the 15 year old fish I mentioned did![]()
They tend to go white, an absence of colour, rather than actually colouring up with grey pigment (at least that's what my 25 yr old goldie did). He lost half his scales too lol
On a slightly OT note, I had another goldie Sarah who lived in with some tropicals for a while, before being rehomed to a pond. Grew at an incredible rate and would eat absolutely anything. Last Autumn, a heron got at the pond and took Sarah and her wild living counterparts.
Anyway, just yesterday I got an e-mail saying that now the weather is getting warmer, three small fish have appeared. Two of them have markings very similar to Sarah's. So dead from one perspective, but living on from another
I am glad Sarah lives on.
