Hiding behind the aqautic plants.
Well my Female is usually quite bold around the boys, flaring, barring up. But I but her in a breeding box (to serve as a hurricane..) And she is all stripey. I have conditioned her for 3-4 weeks, and she never acts like this around them. Could it be change in water? It has been about 20 mnutes, she is just ignoring him and is stripey. Is more time and/or conditioning necessary? Should I just try another female?

Well the change in environment could be stressing her out. Is there a change in temperature? or water conditions? Those would stress her out. Is this a situation or tank she's never been in before? I'd give her a bit more time to settle down. If she's still stressed and not interested in the male by tomorrow then maybe she needs to be conditioned longer and just isnt ready to breed atm.

Could very well be. She has never been in the tank before, and I tried to match the temp, but it is probably not quite exact.

So I will just give her a bit more time to settle in.
Poor male is just desperate to get her attention. Trying all the tricks he knows.

Do you suggest anything blubetta? Maybe getting her a larget hing to float in? (I don't have a hurricane glass)

And yes he sure is a ladies man, really strutting his stuff. Can't stop flaring, it is worrying me a bit hehe.

I will try and get some pics :D

my first spawn i used a spawning box aswell but i put a small amount of sand on the botom of it and gave her some plants so she felt more secure. but now i use a devided tank anyway

I agree a couple plants might help her feel more secure. What size tank are you spawning in? Maybe dividing it would be better for her.

I am breeding her in a 5.5 Gallon.

Update:
She is getting barry when he flares at her, but then when he looks away she gets a bit stripey again. She is still in the box. He is trying to start himself a bubblenest, after he gets over showing himself off he will go blow a couple. Nothing much yet. I think I will wait until tomorrow night or the night after to spawn.

wait until he has built a nest fully and she is no longer srtippey, even if it takes a few days, leave them until its all ready :good:

If she's barring up at all, that's a really good sign. Just give her a little more time.

Whoot! Good to hear that. I was hoping to hear that :D

This is what she usually looks like:

UPDATE

This morning she barred up, and I have not seen a single breeding stripe since. (Well for as long as I have watched). She even flared at him once when she thought he forgot to show off. So he went right back on duty. He made himself a little bubblenest. (pretty small.) She is watching him, but sometimes turns away, pretending to ignore him.

The only problem now, is that she looks kind of plump, but not eggy. Only slightly 'not-thin'. Should I just feed her again? Will she produce eggs even if I don't see them?
