Hi there,
I got home from work earlier and checked my fish as I always do, everything seemed fine.
Continued to feed them frozen (obviously defrosted first) brine shrimp, which they went mad for as usual.
However when I have just been over to the tank again to look my angelfish has a HUGE blob of red hanging underneath it! This was not here earlier and has suddenly appeared!

I couldn't get a great pic as its pretty camera shy, but here is kinda the jist:

Anyone know what could be wrong with it? Its still only a baby so I'd say is about the size of 2 50 pence pieces?
Also can anyone tell if its a girl or a boy or is it too soon?

I know this is probally wrong and a stupid guess but would a fish survive if its stomach broke through its skin. I'm probally wrong though

I have absolutely no idea! It's swimming about as if nothing has happened, doesn't seem phased at all, but it looks so sore!

Yikes. That doesn't look healthy....

I don't predict a good end for this one!

Oh no don't say that =[ I am completely in love with this little guy! It looks as if it's intestines have poked through it, but like I say, it seems to not even notice. I hope it's not going to kill it =[ can this be due to eating too much?!
I think it looks like a prolapsed rectum, is there anyway of fixing this?

This did happen to one of my harlequins actually, about a month ago, and it did appear quickly - wasn't there that morning, was when I got home from work. Likewise, it was swimming nor, ally and didn't seem fazed. I Clove-oiled it straight away, as an open wound is prone to infections, etc. I wasn't going to take the risk of it suffering in the long run.

I don't see how it can possibly survive something on the inside now being on the outside, but if you think it's ok to leave it be at the moment, I don't think there is a single thing you can do.

I'm not home right now so I guess I'll see what it's like when I get home from work tomorrow, I hope it sorts itself but I suppose I'll prepare myself for it not doing so =\

Update: I got home from work today and the Angel looks absolutely fine! You wouldn't have thought anything was ever there! I'm going to fast the whole tank until Sunday I think, incase it was from over eating. I hope it doesn't come back again =\
