Hi All!

I have had my aquarium 10 gallon for a week and a half. I have 3 Harlequins, 3 Black phantoms and trumpetsnails that came on a plant.

Don't even ask why I am cycling with fish!! Because I am a tool and didn't know any better, which reminds me I shall have a word with lfs next time I go, atleast they could mention that you should do fishless.

Anyway enough on that. There is this little white string swimming in my tank, anyone know what that is?? Should I get rid of it and how? I don't want anything to threaten my fish and frankly it is kind a gross looking moving like snake close to the top of aquarium.

Are you sure it's alive, and not just something in the water that's moving with the water movement? I'd get rid of it anyway, doesnt sound like it's meant to be in a tank.

You can do cycling with fish, that's what i did - just dont add too many fish all at once, and build up the fish stock slowly. i wouldnt get any more fish for at least a week, just keep a check on your ammonia levels. do you have a test kit ?

It is alive, swims and moves like snake.

Yes I have the mastertest kit. Have testet ammonia, ph and nitrite so far. The only one that is out of whack is nitrite hence the daily water changes.

Thanks for your fast reply

Hopefully you are right that it is harmless. Besides I can't see it now. Maybe the fish ate it, will remove it if it appears again. Don't want multiplying of this thing.

Thanks for the replies
